This article details how to set up Casa App's 2-of-3 multisig keyset. 2-of-3 multisig is available to all Casa Gold members.

Once you've signed up for your membership, you'll need to download Casa App on your phone, which is where you'll primarily interact with your funds. Casa App is available for both iPhone and Android.
Once you've downloaded Casa App and logged in to your Casa account (the same email address and password you used to sign up for your Casa membership), you're ready to get started!
While most of time, you'll interact with your funds through the mobile app, you do need to have a compatible hardware key and computer system in order to fully set up multisig with your hardware wallet device.
You'll also need to set up your hardware key (initialize the device) prior to adding it to Casa. We have some helpful resources for this in our Hardware keys section, depending on which type of hardware key you're using.
Prefer a video setup tutorial which walks through the set up process? You can check out a recorded demo of how to set up your keys in Casa App here:
Prefer written instructions? We've got you covered with the step-by-step instructions below:
First, create your Mobile Key (tap the Mobile icon)
This will create a key directly on your mobile device in its secure enclave. This is one of the keys that you will normally use to sign and send transactions.
We do have the option to add a second hardware key instead of using the Mobile Key. To see which setup is right for you, see our article on Choosing your Basic Multisig setup.
Next, we'll set up your hardware key
Your hardware device will first need to be initialized. If you haven't already initialized your device, do that now. You will need to initialize your hardware device by following the instructions given in the packaging of your hardware device. We have various hardware device setup tutorials available for you.
Once your hardware device has been initialized, you can tap the hardware key icon in Casa App's dashboard and follow the instructions to link the hardware wallet device. An email will be sent to you requesting to "Link your Device."
Click on the "Connect Device" button in the email, connect your hardware device, and follow the instructions.
To view details on how to add your specific device, find your device in Adding hardware devices to Casa.
Example web flow for Ledger. Your signing experience will vary based on your specific device.
Once you have set up the device, you should see a screen like this:
Finally, set up your Casa Recovery Key (tap the "Casa" logo icon).
During the process of setting up your Casa Recovery Key, you'll be asked a series of security questions. The answers to the security questions should be something that only you know, but something you'll be able to remember. We recommend storing these answers in a password manager.
If you ever need to use the Casa Recovery Key, you'll need to answer all of these questions exactly as they were written during this setup process.
Review your completed Basic Multisig 2-of-3 setup by tapping on each of your keys to perform a Health Check.
It's recommend that you test your setup using Testnet Bitcoin (TBTC) before onboarding real funds. If you do use real funds, start with small amounts.
Please note that you can also us the Single Key as a "single-signature wallet" in Casa App. The Single Key wallet is designed to store smaller amounts and requires only your phone to sign and send transactions.
You're now set up with Casa Basic Multisig! Way to go!
