Depositing (adding funds) to your Casa vault

Adding funds to your Casa vault is quick and easy!

Once all of your keys are set up, you'll be able to deposit funds right away, but it's best practice to perform a health check on your keys prior to adding funds.

If you haven't set up your keys yet, see either Getting started with Casa Gold or Getting started with Platinum and Diamond, depending on your membership level.

To add funds, you would:

  1. Tap the icon of the vault you want to deposit to on your home screen
  2. Tap "Deposit funds"
  3. Send to the address provided by scanning the QR code from another device, or by using the copied address text

The funds you deposit to your Casa app should be visible in your vault as a pending deposit as soon as they are broadcast to the blockchain. Please note that some exchanges batch transactions to save on fees, so they may not broadcast your transaction right away. As soon as they do, you will see it as a pending deposit in your Casa app.

Later on, you'll be able to be send funds from your Casa app to any address as soon as the incoming transaction has been confirmed on the blockchain.

Why did my receiving address change?

It's totally normal for your receiving address to change after every deposit. Casa uses an HD (hierarchical deterministic) key, which generates a new address with each transaction that's made. This helps protect your privacy, rather than having all your deposits go to the same on-chain address.

Any previous addresses that you've used for that vault can be used again to receive funds, though, even though the app is showing you a different deposit address.

This means that you can whitelist an address at your exchange, for example, and any withdrawals you make to that address will go to your Casa vault, despite the app showing you a different address.

Keep in mind that if you ever transfer funds to a new vault/keyset in your Casa app (we call this a key rotation), which you may do if, for example, you want to replace a hardware device in the future, you should update any whitelisted addresses and not send to any previous addresses from the old keyset.
