Health Checks in your Casa App (formerly Keymaster) are an easy way to verify that your keys are available for signing transactions. It's a way to test the integrity of your setup without needing to actually send a transaction. Currently, you can do a health check for your Single Key, your Mobile Key, and your Hardware Device Key(s).
Performing a Health Check for your Single and Mobile Keys checks for two things:
- Checks to ensure the Mobile/Single Key is on your phone
- Check to ensure the Mobile/Single Key is properly backed up
We recommend doing health checks on your setup at least 2 times per year (about once every 6 months)!
NOTE: the health check process for Coldcard is different. See our article on performing health checks for your Coldcard.
To perform a Health Check for your Mobile Key, simply tap the Mobile key icon, then tap "Heath Check."
Hardware Device Key Health Check
Performing a Health Check for your Hardware Device Key prompts you to connect your Hardware Device to create a signature, so you will need access to your Hardware Device (Trezor or Ledger) to complete the Health Check.
To perform a Health Check for your Hardware Device Key, simply tap the Hardware Device Key icon, then tap "Heath Check."
This will send an email to you, with instructions for connecting the hardware device and adding a signature to verify that it's actively available for signing a real transaction.
That's it! You've verified that when you need to spend funds from Casa, you're able to . Don't forget to do another health check in 6 months!
