How to withdraw from Coinbase

We've all heard that storing your funds on an exchange is risky. Exchanges have been hacked, exchange founders have died or disappeared and the keys to the funds have been lost, and authorities have even seized assets. If you want to protect your funds, you need to hold them yourself.

If you're ready to upgrade to Casa's multisig protection and have set up your Casa vault, you're ready to send the funds from your Coinbase account to your Casa vault. This process is essentially the same as you would follow to send funds anywhere else from your Coinbase account.

This procedure may change from time to time, so if any of the below is outdated, please be sure to check Coinbase’s own support page here:

How to send and receive cryptocurrency

The images displayed in the instructions below are taken from coinbase.com.

1. Sign into Coinbase

Once you enter your email address, password, and sign-in 2FA code (and confirm your device by email if necessary), you'll be taken to your Dashboard.

2. Click the "Send / Receive" button at the top right

3. Get your receive address from your Casa app

Sign into your Casa app on your mobile device. Tap the vault you want to deposit to.

Click the "Deposit Funds" button (if this is your first deposit) or the "Receive" button (if you have made deposits in the past) at the bottom. Click the "Copy" button to copy your receive address.

4. Enter the amount you want to send (or use the "Send all" button), and enter your receive address from your Casa app into Coinbase

You'll need to use an app that you can access on both your mobile device and your computer, like Signal, Wire, or Telegram. Send the copied deposit address from the Casa app to yourself on your mobile phone, then copy it on your computer, then paste the address into Coinbase.

5. Send!

Click the "Continue" button at the bottom and review the details.

If everything looks correct, click "Send now." You might need to enter your 2FA code again.

Your funds will now be on their way to your Casa vault! Please note that Coinbase batches sent transactions to save on fees, so it may be a few minutes before they broadcast your transaction to the blockchain. Once they do broadcast it, though, you should see it as a pending transaction in your Casa app.
