Key Rotation

Casa App allows you to easily replace a key in your multisig keyset.

You may need to replace a key if yours is lost or damaged. You may also replace a key if you simply would like to upgrade your device. 

If your key is lost or damaged

If either your mobile key or your hardware device key is lost or damaged, you'll need to replace it with a new key (which creates a new keyset) and make a transaction to the new keyset. You can do this by: 

  • Tapping that specific key icon in the main window of Casa App
  • Marking the key for replacement
  • Following the steps to replace that key with a new one
  • Transferring funds to your new keyset using your remaining keys

If you have your current key

If you have access to your current key, and simply wish to swap it for another, the process is the same as if you lost the key, except that you can use the key you mark for replacement to transfer funds to the new keyset. 

You can do this by: 

  • Tapping that specific key icon in the main window of your Casa App
  • Tapping "Replace Key" (Keep that key - it can be used to transfer to the new keyset!)
  • Following the steps to replace that key with a new one
  • Transferring funds to your new keyset using the two keys that you control 

Keep in mind that once funds are transferring to the new keyset, the key you marked as compromised will no longer work to sign and send transactions from the new keyset.
